362 Youth Head for Overseas Employment
The Ministry of Employment in collaboration with the Overseas Employment Company has revealed that 362 youths were on Friday flown for overseas employment in Iraq, adding to the 414 that had already been there from late last year to early 2010.
Speaking to Sierra Express Media, Minister of Employment and Social Security Hon. Minkailu Mansaray said “we as a government are very happy that we are able to send more and more of our youths to gain employment overseas and are very happy to be working with a very responsible company that is head by a Sierra Leonean.
The Managing Director of the recruiting company (Overseas Employment Company Ltd) Sierra Leonean born Abbdul J Sesay noted that “the employment of these men and women to work for foreign companies will be of tremendous assistance to not only them, but to the friends and families and as well as the country itselfâ€.
“Benefit from these boys have already started trickling in through the monthly remittances they have begun sending ever since they went, and these does not only serve as support to their families, but the government also benefits†Hon Mansaray affirmed in an interview.
The company Director AJ Sesay has also revealed that in the coming weeks and months, over 1500 more will gain similar employment, adding to the already 776 that have been gainfully employment. Addressing the issue of the security of the employees, Sesay said “ever since this programme started, we have not lost a soul to any unnatural means and the possibilities of that happening does not even exist as anybody going to work in the name of the company is safe and well.
