Cholera Outbreak Kills Two at Mabela
Community Health Officer (CHO), Adama Kondor of Mabela Health Centre has revealed in an interview with Sierra Express reporter that the Mabela community is currently faced with the challenge of a cholera disease outbreak which has already claimed the lives of two people.
According to the CHO, Adama Kondor she said they have been receiving reports of victims suffering from the cholera outbreak since Wednesday July 23, she explained further that “ever since the symptom was diagnosed, the toll of cholera victims has increase in number in the Community and its surrounding areas,” she said.
The CHO also revealed that they had recorded the loss of two victims a ten years old girl and a boy from the same disease. She explained that since they started realizing the outbreak in the community, health firms such as Medicine San Frontier (MSF), and Action Firm (AF) have been helping out in providing free medical care for victims.
Mrs. Adama Kondor said further that these medical firms have erected health centres in the community to help provide treatment for cholera victims.
She revealed further that the outbreak has increased due to the reason that the public lack the knowledge in treating and preventing the disease, she went on to explain that the disease in question is anal oral disease cause by a bacteria, mostly transferred from feces to our stomach due to contaminated food.
She said further to prevent this contagious disease from increasing the numbers of cases they are currently involved in outreach sensitization program schooling the nation over the use of basic hygiene exercises.
