In Sierra Leone: Deep Eye Water Community in Urgent Need of Health Centre
As the community has grown with large number of houses, Inhabitants of Deep Eye Water in the outskirts of Freetown is calling on the Government of Sierra Leone (GOSL) through the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS) to help them with a standardize health centre to reduce untimely deaths among the defenseless indigenes.
According to the Headman of Deep Eye Water, Alhaji Ibrahim Sesay said over the decades, the community cannot proud of a single Government hospital except an unfitted Peripheral Health Unit (PHU) which can’t accommodate the high number of patients visiting the centre per day over the decades.
He maintained that they have allocated a community land to the Ministry of Health for the construction of a health centre for the past many years but no positive action had been taken by the appropriate authorities.
The Headman maintained that most of the deaths among pregnant women, lactating mothers and under-fives children is as a result of the absolute absence of advanced health system and concluded by appealing to concerned authority to listen and address their concerns.
