As NRA acting CG represses audit – Allieu to receive staff award…
It has reached desks of this press that there is a ‘cold war’ between the acting Commissioner General of the National Revenue Authority (NRA) and the head of Internal Control and Audit.
Such was made known soon after the commencement of an ‘entrance meeting’ to kick start internal audit operations at the finance department at NRA.
Findings have it also that while the acting Commissioner General, Haja Kallah Kamara, repressively and unjustly goes after the Director of Internal Control and Audit, Philip Koroma, to prevent him instituting audit conducts at respective departments at the NRA, junior staff are reportedly putting arrangements in place to respectfully award Allieu Sesay (suspended NRA Commissioner General) for winning a 57 counts corruption case at the High Court.
Sources say that the office of the President has recently sent out a letter to the Director of Audit, copying the acting NRA Commissioner General and ordering for a commencement of an audit investigation on how monies generated by the NRA were spent.
Hints from within premises of NRA head office suggests that the acting Commissioner General, Madam Kallah, is mad over Phillip Koroma’s (head of audit) resolve to uncompromisingly audit the finance department as stated in letter from the office of the President.
Disclosures reaching this press demonstrate how the Director of Finance Abdulai Conteh, the Administrative and Human Resources head Alimamy O. Kamara and the Corporate Secretary Billal Kargbo conspiratorially toed the line of the AG Commissioner General, Haja Kallah Kamara in the use of invectives against the Director of Internal Control and Audit.
Unconfirmed discoveries indicate that a sum totaling one billion in bank statement of the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank on NRA for the period January to June 2011 has got no better justification.
That persons believed to have corruptly made use of the doubtful one billion are mostly personnel attached to the finance department at the authority.
As some senior officials’ fight over the soon to commence audit assessment of finance and other departments at NRA, some group of junior NRA personnel have also told to our reporter that they intend conferring an award to Allieu Sesay for winning the recent High Court case.
“The award will be given Allieu Sesay soon after his reinstatement as the true and competent Commissioner General of NRA,” the undisclosed workers said.
“The award” they continued “gears towards appreciating Allieu Sesay for making the world know that he is not corrupt and has never supported corruption.”
That the idea to award Allieu Sesay came from top management officials, who for number of reasons, would like Sierra Leoneans believe that the freeing of their boss by the High Court is an illustration that NRA as an institution is not corrupt.
