NEC Holds By-Election In Bo

Following the death of an SLPP leader of constituency 232, Mr. John Bosco Musa in August, the National Electoral Commission (NEC) boss, Dr. Christiana Thorpe has announced that by-election will be held on the 7th of November this year.

Meanwhile, the APC has presented James Coker as their party candidate, whilst Moses Jakima and Moses Kebe are representing the SLPP and PMDC. Sylvester Kamara who was to represent the NDA was considered illegible because he failed to produce evidence that he voted in the Local Council Election in 2007.

WACN Awards First Lady

The West African College of Nursing has awarded first lady, Mrs. Sia Nyama Koroma for successfully meeting the college’s requirements. This monumental ceremony was held on the 22nd October at the Presidential Lodge at Hill Station. The chairman of the college, Mrs. Amilia Eva Garber expressed felicity over the award and remarked that this is the first time award of such nature is being given to a First Lady in Sierra Leone.

In appreciation of this award, Mrs. Sia Nyama Koroma noted that she will explore every means available in her office to reduce the high maternal mortality rate to 30% by 2012.

Yori-Yori Show Flop  

Yesterday marked the D-day for Nigerian born artists with their debute track titled “Yori-Yori”. A source close to Sierra Express Media has reliably disclosed that the show was a flop. According to some music lovers who witnessed the show, only four stands were sparsely occupied by fans.

The rains also caused fans to leave early.
