Arms and ammunition found in Aberdeen
At the usual police press briefing held yesterday at the police headquarters at George Street, Crime Officer, Congo Cross police Station, Detective Sergeant 4845 Sankoh A. informed journalists that on Sunday, 17th July 2010, he received a phone call from D/SGT 3683 attached to the CID Branch, Aberdeen, informing him that one Joe Belle Fayia of No. 8 Johnson Lane, Aberdeen, reported to him that on the same date, riffles and ammunition were found in his compound whilst he himself and others were digging to erect a water pipe.
Upon receiving the information, he together with a team of police officers went to the scene where they discovered one old SLR riffle with serial number UB61A121505 L/A –UB61A12505 and one magazine containing 20 live rounds of ammunition, and one AK47 riffle with one magazine which contained 10 live rounds of ammunition. The arms and ammunition were taken to the police station while the investigation is in progress, said the police detective.
The Director of Media and Public Relations, ASP Ibrahim Samura who served as the chairman of the press conference said that the entire country was calm and quiet as armed robbery has been contained; Sierra Leoneans can now sleep in peace, he assured.
