As Armed Robbers Attacked Leah Street, Police Blamed for Insecurity

Neighbours who woke up from their deepest slumber at around 5:00am on Thursday 14th February, 2019 when the first call to prayer was announced said, the two unidentified armed robbers with facial masks were zealous to attack one of the compounds at Leah Street, Mount Aureol in Freetown and made away with valuable items such as sophisticated mobile phones and other useful domestic utensils worth millions of Leones as a result of the absolute absence of night patrol team of Police.

One of the victims of the armed robbery who sustained serious injuries on various parts of his body but preferred to be anonymous for security reason said, after the first prayer (Hazzan) was called, he woke up from his bed to fetch water to have a washing up adding that upon coming out from his room to the main street, he saw strange images standing in front of one of his neighbours room in the compound. ‘’As I was trying to discover either bags of coal or images of human beings standing, the unidentified bad boys pointed two bright lights on my face and chased me with machetes’’, he told this medium. At this stage, the victim said, he ran towards his room but unfortunately, he fell down when approaching the entrance and sustained injuries as a result of horror and shock. ‘’The thieves barricaded me raising their machetes and commanded me to open the entrance door before chopping my head after begging them to set me free’’, he explained and continued that he was chased upstairs into his room but they were scared by occupants of the other three rooms in the apartment who shouted thieves before they ran down the step and went away into an unknown direction.

On behalf of the innocent and insecure residents of Mount Aureol as they claimed, he was calling for the Police to institute a patrol team from Eastern Police Division and Ross Road Police Station to secure lives and properties of people at Leah Street and the entire Mount Aureol in Freetown to avoid unnecessary loss of lives and properties in to the hands of unscrupulous and useless men who do not want to live by their sweat.
