NFF to establish in 5 more districts
Chief Fire Officer of the National Fire Force (NFF), Mr. Ahmed Nasri Kamanda-Bongay, has disclosed that the Government through the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development (MoFED) approved a budget proposal for the institution to be extended to five additional districts.
The Chief Fire Officer maintained that NFF has gone through the test of time and that he inherited the force with a single building and a fire fighting engine.
He stressed that NFF will never revert to the old days because of the massive improvement that has taken place in recent years.
Mr. Kamanda-Bongay said currently, they can boast of five brand new fire fighting machines procured from taxpayers’ money with additional five machines and protective gears donated to the country by the Japan Government.
The Chief Fire Officer however debunked allegations that his personnel are engaged in the sale of water at night.
He also denied any agreement between them and the Parade Field Management with regards the wetting of the field on humanitarian grounds with no financial reward.
Mr. Kamanda-Bongay disclosed that in the not-too-distant future, they will commence the supply of uniforms and equipment to personnel in the provincial headquarters.
Meanwhile, the Chief Fire Officer has disclosed that they are working day in, day out to ensure the Fire Safety Bill is enacted to help them in their operations.
