Medico Gets Media Alliance Award
Freetown, Sept. 9, 015 (SLENA) – Medical Superintendent and Obstetrician/Gynecologist Specialist, Princess Christian Maternity Hospital (PCMH) in Freetown, Dr. Alimamy Philip Koroma has been awarded a certificate of merit by Media Alliance for his outstanding performance in the medical field and remarkable contribution to the promotion of the Agenda for Prosperity. Dr. Koroma whose certificate also recognizes his performance in Business Administration and development has in his credit many other awards of merit which includes: Best Medical Superintendent 2008-2009, in 2010 Medical Doctor of the year by the Bo District Development Association (BODA), 2012 Meritorious Award for dedication to service in the implementation of the Free Health Care Policy by Health For All Coalition, and the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) Award for Doctor of the year, also in 2010.
Born in Bumbuna, Kalansokia Chiefdom, Tonkolili district northern Sierra Leone, Dr. Koroma in 1987-1993 completed his medical studies with distinction at the Vitebsk State Medical Academy Russia Federation with excellent performance in clinical ordinate obstetrics and gynecology.
Dr. Koroma’s working experience to date can be attributed to proficiency in an Encyclopedia of Excellence in human resource development. He worked at the southern and eastern region as Obstetrician/Gynecologist Specialist and served as Medical Superintendents in the Kenema and Bo Government hospitals under the Directorate of Hospital and Laboratory Services in the Ministry of Health and Sanitation. As Medical Superintendent, he is professionally in charge of the hospital and coordinating all professional services of the hospital in collaboration with Specialist/Medical Officers in charge of various disciplines.
Working with the Matron, Hospital Manager and Secretary, Dr. Koroma ensures effective coordination and communication, dedication to service and implementation of the ethics and code of practice of both the medical and nursing profession. He coordinates and facilitates management of obstetrics emergencies and gynecological cases carry out all obstetrics complicated and non-complicated gynecological surgeries and other related cases including Fistula repairs.
He believes in the transfer of knowledge, experience and human resource development and actively involved in training paramedical students in clinical services and minor surgery, and also in charge of all referral cases.
Dr. Koroma is the Regional Chairman of the Maternal Death Review Committee, Core Team Leader of Emergency Obstetric Care, and has to his credit two significant publications written on Modern Methods in Diagnostics, prophylaxis and treatment of gestures (Preeclampsia) published in 2001, and Modern approaches to diagnostics prophylaxis and treatment of infertile marriage published in 2002.
He is a man of himself, highly intelligent, married and blessed, and has attended numerous courses internationally and at home.
Dr. Koroma is currently working on other publications including” What life has taught us with the Ebola outbreak”.
