Leone Sisters to boost PCMH in Sierra Leone
Freetown, May 10 (SLENA) -Leone Sisters United, a USA based organization is putting final touches to make a donation of a container full of medical equipment to the Princess Christian Maternity Hospital (PCMH) along Fourah Bay Road in Freetown. Vice President of the organization, Mrs. Monjama Korngor said in an exclusive interview with SLENA that the organization consist of sisters who are familiar with the appalling health situation in the country and have therefore decided to make the donation as a way of giving back to help mitigate the suffering of poor women, adding that the organization’s objective is to promote and empower their women folk in Sierra Leone.
Mrs. Korngor said as an organization they have plans to extend their gesture to other part of the country where it is difficult to reach and where a high percentage of the population resides.
Madam Korngor revealed that the donations of the medical equipment should have been done last week but had to be postponed due to delays by the shipping company that was expected to have berth but got some delays on the high seas a development that urged the organization to make the donation next Friday.
The Vice President concluded by appealing to fellow citizens in the diaspora to emulate and offer support to our brothers and sisters in the country especially in the areas of health and education which are the bench marks for the development of any country.
