NETHIPS Executive Director: A saint or a devil?
When you meet the Executive Director of the Network of HIV Positives in Sierra Leone, NETHIPS-SL, addressing People Living with HIV, PLHIVs, you will be tempted to believe that he is indeed the Moses assigned by the Lord Almighty to catapult the network from grass to grace and send every PLHIV to heaven.
The man is an orator per excellence and has the power to brainwash every feeble-minded PLHIV, little wonder he was bodily lifted sky high during the recent Annual General Meeting even though his stolen Executive Directorship has only succeeded in progressively retrogressing the network.
Having closely examined the activities of Idrissa Songo and the manner in which he keeps misleading the network, I have several reasons to believe that the man is blatantly biased, highly vindictive, lawless, selfish, and overtly very friendly to corruption. Below are my reasons for holding such negative opinion about the NETHIPS boss.
Songo is very much aware of the fact that the NETHIPS constitution clearly states that the position of Project Officer is meant for a degree holder yet he keeps maintaining a woefully unqualified and very incompetent Project Officer called Lansana Koroma who, Songo knows very well, does not have complete O’ Level and stole his brother’s degree to get the job.
Songo has all this information on the Project Officer yet he cannot take the appropriate action but, for certain reasons, allows the man to be illegally occupying and wasting the position. Is that not flagrant lawlessness, nepotism and corruption to the highest degree?
Moreover, Songo is the very one who keeps reminding PLHIVs that staff positions are by appointment and executive positions by election, yet he was elected to his own staff position by an open ballot system without any challenger. That of his position was never advertized nor did he give any other person the opportunity to vie for it. Songo was fast to victimize the only man, Pastor Freeman, who abstained from voting for him.
Songo, his National Coordinator and favored ones are the only faces that represent NETHIPS at national and international meetings and they are the only ones enjoying the bulk of care and support benefit donated to the hundreds of PLHIVs in this country.
The most recent case of Songo’s partiality and corrupt tendencies came out glaringly when he refused to sack regional executive members who openly confessed misusing donor fund. Songo has deliberately refused to heed the demand of the PLHIVs for a dismissal of the corrupt executive members either because they are in his good books or they gave him part of the money they misappropriated.
Yes, I have every right to think so as I have been informed that hundred million Leones each was sent to every regional office but only forty million Leones was given to each region, so, where went the balance money?
I am investigating.
