I will not stay more than a day
Director of Administration of Sierra Leone Road Authority (SLRA) Mr. Salamu Koroma has debunked allegations of him not wanting to go on retirement at age 60 years come 20th April this year.
According to him it is not true that he should proceed on leave to retirement on 15th April 2014 underlining that it is true the SLRA code states that one month’s notice must be given to the retiree before he or she proceeds on leave to retirement.
The Director of Administration explained that he has not refused to write his own letter of retirement but that such notification must come from the Acting Director General of SLRA, Abdul Aziz Kamara, and must be approved by the Board of Directors.
“It is arrogant for people to say that the Board Chairman Mr. Arthur Harvey and his chairmen are begging me to stay,” said Salamu Koroma.
“I have long since prepared for my retirement as I have set up vast acreages of plantation,” adding that “I will still live a comfortable life,” Salamu said.
He maintained that some people are trying to destroy the Authority and not Salamu Koroma as he has done his best to protect the good image of the SLRA.
In fact it would interest you to know that it is the Board that wants me to stay as I am not too fussy over it.
He clarified that there was an SLRA bus which was boarded and tendered to the public and people bid and it was sold for Le 5M. So how can I board a bus to myself? he queried. This is a wicked nation as people wants to see you down.
“I joined SLRA in 1993 and have served four Director General and my record is clean.
