Man faces 12 months sentence for five ties of cannabis sativa

Sheku Sankoh of Kortubuma section Bo city Kakowa chiefdom Bo District southern Sierra Leone has Monday 29th July 2013 been sentenced to twelve (12) months or pay the sum of one million Leone (le 1,000,000.00) by the acting principal magistrate of the Kenema magistrate court, Magistrate Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens on the offence of unlawful possession of cannabis sativa contrary to section 48 (1) of the pharmacy and drugs Act 1988.

According to the particulars of the offence Sheku Sankoh on Monday 22rd July 2013 at Bo/Kenema highway Blama small-Bo chiefdom Kenema judicial district of the Republic of Sierra Leone was found in possession of five ties of cannabis sativa without lawful authority. The accused person is presently at the Kenema state prison working his jail sentence while the matter was prosecuted by ASP Lahai of the legal and justice department of the Kenema police station.

In other news a 28 years old trader man of Gaima village in the Kailahun District, eastern province in the republic of Sierra Leone Tejan Koroma was on Monday 29th July, 2013 sentenced to eighteen months imprisonment or pay the sum of three million Leone (Le 3,000,000.00) by the acting principal magistrate of the Kenema magistrate court, magistrate Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens on the offence of fraudulent conversion contrary to section 20 (1) (4) (a) of the larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence Tejan Koroma sometime in May 2013 at No. 10 Main Street Kenema Nongowa chiefdom, Kenema judicial District in the eastern province of the Republic of Sierra Leone fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit certain property that is to say the sum of two million five hundred thousand Leone (le 2, 500, 000.00) entrusted to him by Alhaji Sheku Musa Dakowa for the purpose of buying palm oil. The accuse person is currently working his jail term at the Kenema state prison why the matter was prosecuted by Sgt. 4938 Laundeh of the legal and justice department  of the Kenema police station.
