Professor Parrot: Margai in Political Wilderness

Professor Parrot is a great admirer of Charlie Margai. The great bird admires the legal luminary for his bluntness, bravery and eloquence. But Parrot is not happy with what has been happening to Charlie’s political life which seems to have been characterized by disappointments and ingratitude from those for whom he makes so much sacrifice.

When the wise bird heard that the kingmaker was dragged to police by the king, he shed tears for the regretted kingmaker. He suffered a similar disappointment and regret when the green house which he worked so hard to rehabilitate refused to give him the flag. This obviously led him to the red house to seek solace only to end up being molested and, consequently, disappointed. What is happening with the political career of this sound legal practitioner?

Well, Parrot believes that what is happening to Charlie can be likened to what happened to the Isrealites when they left the Egyptian bondage to seek solace in the promise land only to end up wandering in the wilderness for forty bad years.

Now that Charlie’s orange revolution seems to have lost its initial euphoria and has lost favour with both the green house and the red house, Parrot is convinced that the legal star has found himself in the political wilderness. Take heart my dear Charlie, one fine day you will reach the promise land as all is not lost.
