For Heightened Crime Rate … Police Post needed for Bauya
Residents of Bauya in Kongbora Ciefdom, Moyamba District, have called on government to provide the town with a police post to minimize the heighted crime rate now plaguing the chiefdom.
Making the call during an interview, the concerned residents noted that a police post in the chiefdom headquarter town can make police presence felt in the chiefdom where, they said, criminals are on the loose, committing horrendous crimes with impunity.
They recalled that recently, a Peace Corps volunteer teaching at the Saint Peters Secondary School was raped by an unidentified rapist and that the matter was swept under the carpet, an incident which, they said, caused the Peace Corps to abandon the school in shame. The lady, they added, was very helpful to the school.
The concerned residents also revealed that it has become a common practice for husbands to be beating their wives to death with the killers going scot-free. They cited that such incident has occurred in Manjehun in the Senehun Section, Levuma in the Mongeray Section and other villages.
They pointed out that the criminals are emboldened by the absence of the police to perpetrate heinous crimes with impunity, thereby undermining the security of the chiefdom.
