Man On The Run
Alhassan Kamara is reported to be on the run after he was accused of orchestrating the chaos that broke out in Bo on September 9, last year when SLPP Presidential flag bearer, Julius Maada Bio, who went on a campaign trail, was attacked and seriously damaged on the head. Houses including the main offices of the ruling All People Congress (APC) party were burnt down. Also the Chairlady, Madam Zainab Kamara, was part of the victims that were indiscriminately stabbed.
Alhassan, who was the Manager of the Brima Attouga mini stadium, became the prime target as he was accused of harboring hooligans who caused so much distress to peaceful citizens. Kamara eventually went into hiding for fear of his life.
Alhassan’s name was also mentioned when commotion broke out at the Fourah Bay community with a supporter of one of the parties, Moseray Fadika, injured on the leg. Other supporters of the APC were seriously wounded as they tried to save Mr. Fadika’s life.
Police had to storm the area, using tear gas and live bullets to put the situation under control with the SLPP parliamentary aspirant, Aziz Carew, and two others consequently arrested and charged to court for aiding and abetting while the search for Alhassan Kamara and others continues.
Currently, community people and security agencies believe that Alhassan is still in control of some hooligans who are causing unrest to peaceful Sierra Leoneans even though his whereabouts remain unknown.
As a result of his contact and relationship with the youths, Alhassan has been further accused of training the dangerous gang in the community. The group consists of former ex-combatants who caused havoc to peaceful people.
Even though Alhassan is reported to be on the run, the gang has continued to cause problems for the community and the government. Just last week, the police had to intensify the search for Alhassan after some gangs forcefully robbed and attacked peaceful citizens.
According to the police, the scary situation can only be controlled if Alhassan falls into the police net. Close associates of Alhassan have, therefore, admonished him to remain where he is or risk being killed by his pursuers.
