With Increase in Crime in Western Rural District Deep Eye Water Police Post Cries for Help

However, the poor condition of the post is becoming a cause for concern as its lacks toilet, electricity facilities and even sitting accommodation. The plot of land was donated for the building of the post by the community which has been making clarion calls for police presence in the area with approximately over a thousand residents; being a newly concentrated area.

Explaining to this medium, the Officer in Charge of the Deepea Water Police Post, Inspector Fatmata Koroma said the human resource department of the Sierra Leone Police has been informed about the constrains they are facing in the new post. She said the lack of toilet facility amongst others is demotivating to detain suspects in the unfinished building. She pointed out that they wanted their patrol presence to be felt but the lack of adequate officers and logistics prevent such from happening especially now that an after 12 midnight ban has been placed on okada riders in the area.

Inspector Koroma said that since the erection of the post few months ago, her officers’ patrol during the day has yielded dividend adding that the crime rate has reduced drastically with their presence. She maintained that she would work steadfastly with members of the community describing the relationship as being cordial so far. “With community participation, the lives and properties of the people are secured”, she further maintained.
