United Council of Imams get new medical centre
“Since the establishment and spread of Islam they have never established a medical centre for Islamic People.” This was the message of Dr. Mohamed Tarawally, the Doctor in charge of the new medical centre which is known as the United Council of Imams Medical Center, formally the SAM-PALLO Clinic at Mayaimi, Allen Town Community.
According to the young and well experienced Doctor Mohamed Tarawally, Christianity came to Sierra Leone and formed the existing Grammar School in 1849, the Bo School for sons and nominees of Paramount Chiefs in 1805, and the establishment of the Princess Christian Maternity Hospital (PCMH), and a host of other well meaning outfits. These according to Doctor Tarawally were all efforts geared towards the promotion, establishment and the propagation of Christianity as it has rarely happened with the Muslim Religion.
However according to Dr. Mohamed Tarawally, Muslims in Sierra Leone are made up of the greater 60% population whilst Christianity is in the minority, but Christians are doing more for society than Muslims, he noted.
He said he has since he joined hands with the President of United Council of Imams Alhaji Yayah Deen Kamara and secured a structure at # 545 Bai Bureh Road, Mayaimi Allen Town.
Presently Dr. Mohamed Tarawally noted that with the intervention of Dr, Abib Sheriff they have secured an Arab investor that has paid 15 yrs rent for the building and also promised to expand and extend the structure with more support.
Dr. Tarawally pointed out that presently there are several constraints coupled with inadequacies of personnel to keep the center going.
He entreated the Government and other foreign donor partners to support them in championing medication, especially within the Allen Town, Mayaimi Community.
