NEC to distribute over 300,000 Voter IDs
The National Electoral Commission is set to equally distribute a total of over 300,000 pending registration voter Identity Cards as the commission folds up with phase one of its exhibition process.
According to the acting external outreach officer for NEC, Christopher Jones, NEC is going be distributing the said ID cards at their regional offices in the country.
He said an estimated 1.9 million voters have already collected their voter ID cards out of over an estimate of 2.2 million people that did register to take part in the November elections.
Christopher Jones said NEC will commence the objection stage of the process to look into cases reported so far since when the process started, adding that a total of 41 cases have been reported and NEC will have no objections to those complaints other than allowing time to seal the end process of their activities.
Chairperson of NEC, Madam Christiana Thorpe, meanwhile, has assured Sierra Leoneans that over 70% of the objection cases have arbitrated. She added that the cases of missing data and other errors were registered due to some unavoidable technical glitches that occured during the matching process of data information.
