In Sierra Leone: Incompetent N’fa Alie Must Go
APC, NGC Slam NEC Boss, Threaten Non- Participation in All Elections
Sierra Leone’s opposition parties, All Peoples Congress (APC) and the National Grand Coalition (NGC), have in their respective press releases lambasted the National Electoral Commission (NEC) and its Chair, N’fa Alie Conteh (in photo), over what they say was the gross incompetence and lack of integrity staff of the commission together with the chair displayed in the conduct of the ward 196 re-run local council bye-election held in Kambia district.
According to both parties, the National Electoral Commission has shown that it can no longer be trusted with the business of conducting a free, fair and credible election and therefore, they will not be party to or take part in any future election under the current NEC Boss.
The APC’s position had come after the second highest decision making body NAC, has crossed the Rubicon over non-participation in any future election that is going to be conducted by Sierra Leone’s electoral body-under the leadership of Mohamed N’fah Alie Conteh.
The National Advisory Committee (NAC) has released a straw to give blackout to what its described as an incompetent elections body.
The evidences of elections malpractices in Tonko Limba Ward 196 is glaring and compelling, the statement says.
The APC, in a public statement signed by its National Secretary General, Ambassador Dr. Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh, has warned the Chairman and National Returning Officer of the National Electoral Commission (NEC), in his very best interest and in the best interest of peace and stability of Sierra Leone, to resign with immediate effect.
And that, the Party will not participate in the upcoming bye-election in Ward 257 Port Loko District to ascertain its grounds.
According to the statement, the conduct of the bye-elections in Ward 149 Tonko Limba is enough for the blind to see and the deaf to hear that Mohamed N’fah Alie Conteh’s NEC has turned their backside against the core principles of being impartial, competent and credible to conduct any elections in Sierra Leone.
NAC, according to the statement, has reviewed the conduct of the bye-elections in Tonko and that the APC can state without any iota of doubt that it has lost total confidence in NEC who has proven beyond limit that they are in bed with nefarious efforts to undermine the peace of the country.
The APC, the statement affirmed, Will no longer countenance NEC, under its current Chairman, saying as the Party with the majority seats in Parliament and Local Councils across the country, it cannot be a party to anything that will undermine the hard-won peace, stability and serenity the country is enjoying.
The APC has called on moral guarantors not to allow an incompetent NEC Boss to derail the democratic process of Sierra Leone in a bid to satisfy his earthly gods.
