Patriotic Sierra Leoneans launches outreach program
Patriotic Sierra Leoneans (PSL), a non-governmental organisation has launched its monthly outreach meeting Sunday June 24 at the Brima Attouga Stadium, east of the capital Freetown.
Hundreds of people turned up to grace the historic event including women, youths, children, and the aged. The focus of the monthly outreach was to instill in citizens the need to love their country above all else and become proud ambassadors of Sierra Leone.
Chairman of the launching, SLP Mohamed Kargbo who is Head of Community Relations at the Ross Road Police Station, noted that the organization aims to restore the dignity and pride of Sierra Leoneans. SLP Kargbo said the launching of the organization’s outreach program was timely as the country is approaching a very defining moment in its political history.
Making a statement via a mobile phone amplified with a megaphone, President of Patriotic Sierra Leoneans, Mohamed Kamarainba thanked the mammoth crowd for their demonstrated support to PSL’s vision and encouraged citizens to take ownership of the country. Kamarainba promised that the organization will serve as independent observer during the November elections as well as provide food in polling centers. Kamarainba assured that plans are underway to launch the organization in every District of the country.
Chief of public Relations of Patriotic Sierra Leoneans, Daniel N’bompa-Turay admonished Sierra Leoneans to ensure that the November elections are fair and violent free as this will reveal citizens true sense of patriotism to the country. Nbompa-Turay highlighted patriotic consciousness, election monitoring, road adoption, scholarship, livelihood skills acquisition, etc, as core components of PSL.
He also revealed that the July outreach will be held at Lumley in the West end of Freetown.
A 78 years Pa Sorie Kamara expressed deep appreciation of the organization’s focus and called for it establishment throughout the country. School teacher, Mary Konneh believes the organization’s scholarship program will go a long way in complementing the national educational package. Youth activist, John Mansaray noted that the youths of this country will fully embrace the PSL and look forward to its creative ways of enhancing youth empowerment.
The meeting ended with a huge feast where variety of food was served.
Patriotic Sierra Leoneans was founded in the United States in 2011 by Mohamed Kamarainba. The organization was launched at early this year at the Miatta Conference Hall in Freetown and in the United States in May this year.
