Patriotic Sierra Leoneans Organization (P-SL) gives this hearty pride of appreciation and thanks to fellow Sierra Leoneans, for being this peaceful with shared amount of responsibility in keeping an impressive record of multi-tier elections.

We doff our hat to the security forces: Military Aid in Civil –Power (MAC-P), the Sierra Leone Police Force (SLPF), and the paramilitary outfits star-studded in keeping an atmosphere of calm.

Our appreciation also goes to the National Electoral Commission for being to the task of conducting the multi-tier set up of elections with such a novelty.

We have this big heart and pride for other political actors who partook in the entire process. They represent the beauty of democracy in fair contests as Sierra Leone is proud of having political pluralism in place.

We sense a wake of enthusiasm in us as Sierra Leoneans as we did converge early on polls and casted our ballots. In the outcome the incumbent President Koroma has been announced by the National Returning Officer, Dr. Christiana Thorpe, as winner of the November 17 polls – our congratulations to His Excellency!

We’re craving on the indulgence of other political parties to accept the results. In any contest there must be a winner, but that should not warrant the losers to react using any means that will deflower the sacred will of the electorates.

We are especially calling on the main challenger of the polls, Retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio, to not only send a peaceful message to his supporters as he has rightly done, but also concede defeat. Equally, we look forward to seeing the president extend his olive branch to the losers, based on his earlier speech; to operate as a government of inclusion, as he precisely put it: “Action Pass Intention.”

We as citizens should be seen working to perfect the system and refrain from trivializing the tenets of democracy. We are aware that our democracy is not perfect and as such, we as a nation must seat down and reflect on our inadequacies and put mechanisms in place to polish and move Sierra Leone forward.

Finally, we suggest that the president exhibit exemplary leadership by reaching out to all parties in an organized dinner and talk the various indifferences out as Patriotic Sierra Leoneans and put our country first. The president is aware that politicking is over; so he paid tribute to it in his swearing in ceremony. We don’t just want to see President Koroma’s speech been interpreted in words but should be done in practical terms as well.

Now is the time for the president to interpret to Sierra Leoneans that his leadership means all words coming out and as such is working in line with those pronouncements.

Long live Sierra Leone! Long live Sierra Leoneans!! Long live our democracy!

Signed
Mohamed Kamarainba- President
Patriotic Sierra Leoneans, P-SL
