Patriotic Sierra Leoneans Organization on International Anti-Corruption Day
As we recognize International Anti-Corruption Day and honor the tireless efforts of activists, businesses, some government officials, and international organizations to combat corruption and promote open and transparent government in Sierra Leone.
While much work remains, we urge the current administration of President Ernest Bai Koroma to fully engage in the fight against corruption in Sierra Leone. The timing as we recognize this day in-sync to the just concluded elections and the much awaited new President Koroma’s administration, must be reflective of the campaign slogan “Agenda of Prosperity” and has to be geared towards national prosperity. We cannot as a nation prosper without combating and eliminating corruption from the top all the way to the bottom.
Patriotic Sierra Leoneans, P-SL organization is hereby encouraging greater access to information, citizen engagement, and fiscal transparency for our country Sierra Leone. We further urge President Koroma to lead by example in his second term in creating an ambitious anti-corruption action plan for the next five years and adopted principles to keep corrupt officials away from our Government.
Patriotic Sierra Leoneans, P-SL organization further urge President Koroma to dedicate his commitment to preventing corruption and the destructive impact it has on communities around the country. With the President agenda for Change and Prosperity, we are expecting him to promote the conducive environment to prosecute corrupt actors, recover the proceeds of corruption and other illicitly acquired assets, and fight other crimes such as cooperate corruption.
P-SL is also urging Anti-Corruption Commission, ACC to step up in full gear and with tenacity to combating corruption in Sierra Leone. It’s about time culprits are put in prison for a longer period of time to set precedent for other.
Finally, Patriotic Sierra Leoneans, P-SL applauds all fellow Sierra Leoneans, especially the media working to sustain transparent, open societies around the country.
