Alleged armed robber accuses police
Yembeh Kallon of 58 Melons Street, Wellington, is currently standing trial at Court No1 presided over by Magistrate Steven Conteh, over his alleged involvement in an armed robbery incident which took place in Wellington on May 28.
He is slammed with 27 count charges ranging from wounding with intent, robbery with aggravation, assault, carrying of offensive weapons without permit from the police among the other charges.
The accused claims that Detective 9685 Mohamed Sesay attached at the Criminal Investigation Department, Kissy Police Division, took his Two-Sim Nokia Phone with some amount of money but he could not remember the amount.
He said Hon. Coleson Turay and Wife were present when his arrest was made.
Detective Police 9685 Mohamed Sesay, occupying the witness box denied knowledge of what he stood accused of by the accused person. He said he alone arrested the accused at Upper Melon Street, Wellington and the Hon. in question did not render any form of help in carrying out his police duty.
In another development, on Monday June 12th Zainab Sankoh of 88 Melon Street, Mohamed Barry, Ibrahim Samura, and Aminata Sowa made testimonies in court in respect of the robbery incident. According to them they saw the accused Yembeh Kallon in company of two unknown persons in their house at 3:00am when the robbery attack took place.
According to them a total of Le18,800,000 worth of items were carted away including eleven mobile phones. The matter was adjoined to Tuesday June 13th
