NCD Launches Conflict Resolution Project -The National Commission for Democracy (NCD) on May 15th launched its conflict resolution project at the regional consultation office for conflict identification in the western Area. The Chairman Alhaji Dr. Abubakarr Kargbo said the project focuses on identifying potential conflicts in the region including the Western Areas ahead of the November 17, 2012 elections.

Dr. Kargbo noted that UNIPISL is helping to facilitate the project in order to bring both the intra and inter party conflict in the Country.

27,000 voters to re-register – Over 27,000 previously registered voters for the November poll elections are to be re-registered during the exhibition stage of the voter’s registration process. The Chairperson of National Election Commission (NEC) Madam Christiana Thorpe said it is as a result of the fact that the commission found it difficult to trace all the necessary data needed to be input into the biometric machines during the just concluded voters’ registration process.

Five to Vie For Kenema Mayorship – Five people have declared their intention to vie for the Mayorship of the Kenema City Council in the November polls.  They include Dr. Martian Gbonda, Mr. Bockarie Ensah of YAPAD, Mr. Joseph S.Keifala of SLFA, Madam Margret Shaka, the current Deputy Mayor of the council and Chief Makaya, former SLPP Member of Parliament. Sources say all the candidates are busy lobbying indigenes of Kenema for the position.

APC Takes APC TO IMC – The Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Sheka Tarawallie has dragged the Awareness times Newspaper to the Independent Media Commission for what the minister describes as reckless and unprofessional journalism. The Awareness Times wrongly quoted the Deputy Minister to have said what he did not say about the presidential candidate of the opposition SLPP.

Dr. Soyei Laid to Rest at 50 – The remains of the late Dr. Anthony Kakpindi Soyei has been laid to rest at his Holy Mary Hospital Compound on Monday May 14th after a well attended funeral mass at the immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Bo. Monday May 14th was exactly the 50th birthday of the late dynamic young man who died by road accident on Saturday May 5.th
