Eastern Police Station and policing the city

The Eastern Police Division is strategically placed within the Sierra Leone Police Jurisdiction in Sierra Leone.

It is sometimes referred to as the “city gate” of security. This police jurisdiction is also situated in the Central Business District of Freetown. Here, human congestion and influx of people is very high. Unskilled Laborers are increasing on a daily basis as the labour population in the interior decreases.

They are referred to by the local traders as “WOROKS”. Since the year 2000, this group has steadily increased. Some of them have transformed themselves into gamblers, pick-pocketers, 419ers, prostitutes, mobile phone snatchers and night carpenters.

The Family Support Unit (FSU) faces a Herculean task of locating street children, mending broken homes, locating absconded children in the streets, and deals with crimes like domestic violence, harboring, abduction, child thieving and children trafficking to name but few.

The Criminal Investigations Department is now headed by Inspector Tucker who is assiduously working on the crime Data. The no nonsense officer is presently refining the criminal investigations system at the Eastern Police Division.
