Director of Reparations spits fire

Obi Buya Kamara, Director of Reparations at the office of National Commission for Social Action (NACSA)  has vowed to make public, the list of all those that pledged during the launching of the War Victims Funds.

Obi Buya Kamara said the non compliance of some respectable business companies in the country has caused a lot of problems for the reparation program aimed at benefiting 32,110 war victims.

He said the Board of Trustees appointed to manage the War Victim Funds has made countless visits to all those that pledged during the launch but are yet to comply with their pledges. He said less than Le300 million is currently in the fund to carry free physical Healthcare, education skills training and micro grants, pensions and community and symbolic reparations.

He said 1,100 amputees, 5,448 war wounded, 3,602 victims of sexual assault, 8,677 child victims and 13,283 war widows are expected to benefit from the reparations program as recommended in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) .

He said so far 96 victims nationwide have received emergency medical assistance, 235 female victims have undergone gynecological treatment, urgent interim reparation to 13,432, Education Grant to 7,005 child victims, and symbolic and community reparations in 40 Chiefdoms.

He expressed disappointment to some business partners that are refusing to honour their pledges regardless of the friendly business atmosphere they enjoy in the Country.
