Maada Bio becomes Nimikoro Chief – Flag bearer of the Sierra Leone People’s Party, Julius Maada Bio has been crowned chief at Nimikoro in the eastern Kono District of Sierra Leone. He earned the crown in his second leg of thanking his people tour having voted him in the July National Delegates’ conference where he emerged winner out of the nineteen flag-bearer aspirants that contested so far.

Government Buys More Arms and Ammunition – As it is reported in the New People online Media, the Government of Sierra Leone has spent the sum of $5 million and 3.8 million dollars in purchasing 10 Units of fire arms for armed personnel carriers. Reports say the arms are due in Freetown by either July or August this year. Another contract for 10 armoured personnel carriers is due in October later this year. A Chinese Arms company, Norico is said to have been contracted to manufacture the arms.

WAEC Boss Denies Pregnant Girls Exams Right – Mr. Mohamed Sapateh said pregnant school going girls are not eligible for External Exams any more. The West African Exams Council Boss said they resolved in their last principal’s conference that pupils below the ages of 18 and 25 in the normal situation should not conceive because noticing them on such condition would disqualify their candidature for both BECE and WASSCE exams.

Africell Supports Salone Red Cross @ 50 – Award winning giant mobile network provider, Africell have thrown their weight of support behind the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society in observing their 50th anniversary. Africell Media Relations officer says they are pleased with the Sierra Leone’s Red Cross and Red Crescent movements and wants to be part of their success stories in rescuing those in needed and bring them closer the realities of life.

Lokos Thank President Koroma – The Loko minority tribe in Sierra Leone  converged on Saturday at the Miatta Conference Hall to thank President Ernest Bai Koroma who they said has given to their tribe four cabinet positions for the first time in history. The Lokos showcased appreciation through traditional performances and shared good will messages with others during that day.

Usu Boie Clears His Political Future Sooner or Later – Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara has told crowds of his supporters on Friday last week that he has not joined any political party yet  contrary to rumors doing the rounds that he has secured membership with the ruling All People’s Congress. He said he will break his silence sooner than later when it is ripe for that.
