After incurring his people’s wrath, Tom N’yuma disappears

Former Chairman of Kailahun District Council, Sahr Thomas N’yuma is currently at large following his recent outburst denouncing his membership from the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP). Coordinated calls in following up Nyuma’s new future after his switch over allegiance failed to account much other than saying the embattled former District Chair is on the run.

Reports claim he was spotted in a corona jeep towards the weekend and his destination was unknown. Other sources claim N’yuma is currently residing in Freetown on a medical check up.

However, Tom N’yuma was a figure of controversy last week following his ‘bombshell’ announcement which sent chills up the spines of SLPP top guns, including John Oponjo Benjamin, who perceived Tom has gone to commit sin with the APC. His people in Buedu have reacted and according to our ace reporter in Kailahun, the former military man is having problems with his health of late.

Even though he was spotted healthy looking before his sudden disappearance, he says, Tom must be surely having problems with his health, our Kailahun Correspondent filled.

Tom N’yuma, we are told is believed to be one of the guys John Benjamin was personally looking up to to be his stooge. “No doubt that news of his resignation sends chills in John Benjamin’s pins who always sees Tom like his son”, one woman who begs for her name not to be mentioned says.

Tom N’yuma is shrouded with controversy at the moment, but is clearly being defended within the circles of his new party – even though claims and allegations abounded his name. For example, the Council he was serving as District Chairman have banded claims of financial improprieties on his name running to millions of Leones. On such claims we tried to get him over the phone line to clear such grave allegations, but he was not available as his cell phones were switched off. Our correspondent says Tom’s phone lines have remained closed from the day he exited Kailahun for no known reason. Meanwhile, he has been impeached by his Councillors in a meeting held at the District Council hall in Kailahun on March 14, 2012.

Twenty three voted in favour, while Counsellor Fanta Alpha of ward 10 in Koindu abstained saying she had recommended on several occasions that a vote of none-confidence be passed on Tom but her colleagues failed to listen.

Tom’s Deputy, Nelson Lahai is now acting as chairman of the Kailahun District Council.
