Revealed – Musa Tarawally ordered ‘unlawful detention’

Investigations reveal that the Internal Affairs Minister, Musa Tarawally was the one who masterminded the arrest and unlawful detention of Dauda Kallay, the renowned Moyamba Herbalist and community animator.

In his capacity as then Resident Minister South, Musa Tarawally in June of 2010 ordered the arrest and subsequent unlawful detention of Dauda Kallay and family in the village of Taninihum M’boka on allegation that the he hatched plans through his mobilisation of the ex-Kamajor militia fighters to overthrow President Koroma.

Musa Tarawally was spotted in the company of Joe Nunie – an ex-Kamajor fighter who testified against his former boss Chief Sam Hinga Norman at the trial Chamber of the Special Court for Sierra Leone.

Leading a truck full of armed police to Taninihun M’boka, Musa Tarawally ensured that Dauda Kallay’s premises were ransacked and burnt to ashes in a suspect search. The lead team of police officers found nothing of police interest except his sorcerer glass, which they met in his crematorium with some herbs, together with a three legged awujor pot, rice, and cooking items.

Facts of our investigations are that the said items were lodged in Dauda Kallay’s house by Dr. Magnus Gborie, whose brother, Bobson Lansana, died in May of 2010 in Freetown to be buried in Moyamba in June of that year. Dauda Kallay, according to Dr. Gborie was head of the said funeral ceremony.

On the fateful day of June 30, the declared wanted Dauda Kallay went to buy zinc in Moyamba. On his way back to Taninihun M’boka, he met a truck loaded with armed police personnel chanting his name without noticing him.

He said: “I overheard them talking, I knew it concerned me, so I vanished. I noticed that my family was being subjected to flogging and frog-marching”.

He said he decided to appear in person and declare himself to the police.  “They took me to the Moyamba Police Station where I was detained for five days without being charged to court”, he said. “I still ponder what I did wrong till date,” he cried.

Dauda Kallay was once a member of the Ex-Kamajor militia fighters.  He is known widely as a traditional herbalist.  Cases he can handle include diabetes, paralysis, fibroid, witch-gun manipulations; he can consecrate human bodies against evil spirits and all.

Dauda Kallay is also a teacher at the Catholic Primary School Moyamba.  He also offers free tutorials for pupils in that part of the country.

He came into union with the Extended Program of Immunization (EPI) Consultant, Dr. Magnus Gborie, when he healed the Medical Doctor from a witch-gun affliction he suffered which later rendered him impotent.
