Famed management consultant Peter Drucker, PhD, once described leadership as being about followership. Leadership is not a title but an ability to inspire followership. It is from this perspective I want to introduce Alhaji Musa Tarawally, the leader identified for the vision 2028, and the successor of our military strongman the retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio.
Why Musa Tarawally?
Alhaji Musa Tarawally hailed from Moyamba district from parents who were always poised to succeed in what they believed in, God fearing with relationships and establishments across the country. Honorable Musa Tarawally grew up in that belief of success, submission to God and hard work. His impeccable record of a successful businessman with an investment of over fifty million dollars established in several countries, underscores what a leader we have in him. As a leader, he has inspired thousands of young men/women, and elderly to believe in themselves, and by supporting them at a time they needed someone to lean on most. His leadership is his bedrock through the number of people who are following his call and his vision. Sierra Leone needs such a leader at this time, a leader with a clear vision, innovation, inspiration and entrepreneurship. A leader with a proven record of self-discipline, success, a philanthropist, coordinated strategy and a perfect blend of love and magnanimity for people. What makes the honorable unique?
What we have failed in the past is to identify leaders who have built the economic capital for themselves through self-discipline, strategic interventions and good management style. Late Siaka Stevens was only identified as a trade unionist with no financial resources to build a political empire, late Sir Milton Margai of blessed memory was a medical doctor with no proven success of financial independence, Late Joseph Saidu Momoh enjoyed promotions in the military but with no financial discipline or success and the self-styled Ernest Koroma was only a broke partner at the insurance company, with nothing else. Alhaji Musa Tarawally on the other hand, is coming into the biggest political office after building himself a multinational financial empire, assets across the globe, with Governance and private sector experience to strengthen investor and donor confidence, unite the country and enterprise the people making them Self Reliance. His generosity and compassion for party members over 30 years, is the building block of successes in politics. This is why we see him as the man of the moment, the man who has tested the battlefield and come out alive with all his men on his side. The only man who knows the APC very well and with the precise formula to keep them in a healthy democratic opposition.
