Jamal Shallop and Lawyer respond to Salone Times publication

On Wednesday 21st October, 2015 Mr. Jamal Shallop, prominent business tycoon and owner of Country Lodge, together with his Lawyer Mr. Melron Nicol-Wilson responded to a publication by Salone Times  newspaper of the same date entitled, ” Musa Tarawally and Jamal Shallop in land deal “.

Mr Shallop maintained that he is not involved in any land deal or deals with the minister of lands Mr. Musa Tarawally .

That in October last year Mr.  Sulaiman Kebe, on behalf of the estate of I.S. Kebe, offered a piece of land to him for sale. That he instructed his lawyer to do due diligence and later prepare a conveyance of sale. He further said that the transaction has nothing to do with the minister of lands as the property in question was privately owned by the Kebe family .

Mr. Shallop further said that he instructed his lawyer to give squatters living in the purchased property,  the total sum of Le100 million, and 40 bundles of zinc, so that they can move out of the property and not  Le500 million as alleged by Salone Times.

Mr. Mohamed Kebe, representing the Kebe family, said that they freely sold their private property to Mr. Jamal Shallop in October 2014, and that he has paid the entire purchase price through his lawyer. Mr. Kebe said his family was represented during the transaction by the law firm of Tejan -Cole, Yillah and Bangura.

Mr. Melron Nicol-Wilson said he is the private family lawyer of Mr. Musa Tarawally and has been so even before he became a politician and later minister.  He said his legal services to Mr. Shallop must not be confused with his legal services to any other client including Mr.Tarawally, adding that Mr. Musa Tarawally has nothing to do with the Kebe land purchase by Mr. Jamal Shallop .
