Leadership crisis at Allen Town

There is undine at Allen Town owing to a leadership vacuum in the community.  Elders of Allen Town community while explaining concerns to this press said since the death of their Local Chief, Pa Bangura in September 2011 there has not been any move to make his replacement at all.

A village elder, Shiek Alusine Kamara said the election of a new Chief would only take place after the 40th day ceremony of late Pa Bangura.  He said Pa Bangura was in fact an acting Chief and was never elected by the community.  That he was asked to act after the death of then substantive Chief, Pa Strasser.

According to Pa Ramadan Jalloh, he said the lack of leadership in the Allen Town community has created room for the continual unruliness by particularly the youths.

This, he said, is practically not good for the peace and development of the community.

“As I speak, Allen Town only has one police post and civil matters are mostly settled by the Chief,” Pa Jalloh said.

Because of lack of leadership, the Allen Town football Association, which was formed by a former Leone Star striker, Alusine Bo School Sesay, is seemingly ineffective.

He said all these activities have become dormant because there is no leader to co-ordinate them.

However, he noted that other vacant positions in the community are Chairman and youth chairman positions.

He called all to urgently enhance the filling of vacant positions soon after the 40th day ceremony of late Pa Bangura.
