Le350 million bail for 419ers
Magistrate Wellington of Court 2 yesterday granted Le 350M bail fraudsters Alhaji Dauda Alimamy aka 50 Pound, and Julius Augustine Richardson who stand as accused for obtaining monies from Jay Muchang Yu by falsely pretending that they have gold for sale knowing same to be false.
The accused are facing two count charges of Conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to law and obtaining money by false pretences contrary to section 32 (1) of the larceny Act of 1916. Pleas are yet to be taken.
Police prosecutor ASP Dunia told the court it was his intention to lead evidence, but that his witness was absent.
He therefore asked for a short adjournment date to enable him locate and notify the witness for testimony.
Hannah Ahmed who appeared for the defense reiterated the habit of police prosecutors in always asking for a short adjournment date.
She applied for bail for the two accused persons pursuant to section 79 of the Criminal Procedure Act of 1965.
In her measurement, she told the court that the accused persons are Sierra Leoneans and are reside in the western area.
That the accused have credible people to stand as sureties for them.
She furthered that her clients have no intention to jump bail or interfere with the witnesses.
The accused were granted self bail in the sum of Le 350M and should deposit the said amount into the account of the Consultant Master and Registrar.
The matter was adjourned for further hearing.
