Zain What? – Cleans Lumley Beach!

Sunday 26th September witnessed Zain Sierra Leone’s participation in cleaning of communities along Lumley Beach; a thing they say was the company’s vision to have hygienic and tourist attraction worthy beaches.

Zain in partnership with the National Tourist Board has provided a source of employment and sensitization for youths who participate in this program. The Head of Corporate Affairs, Kelvin Kellie, said his company’s support is in line with policies as enshrined in laws bordering on corporate social responsibility. That as the leading mobile communication network in Sierra Leone Zain is sensitive to the needs of its subscribers – calling them One Family.

He noted further that Zain has concern for its customers and always interacts with them.

As such, it has launched the beach cleaning exercise; a thing he said is long overdue.

In his statement, the Minister of Tourism and Culture, Hindolo Tyre, stated his appreciation to Zain for its ‘timely intervention’ in the cleaning of Lumley Beach. He said it is a blessing in disguise, that Lumley Beach is a point of attraction for tourists, but has become an eyesore over the years.

He said the beach is packed with debris from the sea, human depletion, etc., referring to such as a disgrace to a developing country such as Sierra Leone.

He called on all people to subscribe with Zain as they have all it takes in coming to the rescue of society by using their resources, initiatives, and love.

He also called on other companies to follow the footsteps of Zain and admonished people to desist from throwing waste on the beach.

The Manager of the Tourist Board, Cecil Williams, in his statement thanked Zain for providing the equipment needed for the cleaning of the beach and further said that Zain on many occasions has partnered with the Tourist Board. He disclosed how the Tourist Board was unable to clean the beach due to lack of funds.

Charles Kalawa, MP representing Constituency 111, communicated his hearty appreciation to Zain and promised them that the equipment donated will be used for the intended purpose.

The program was climaxed with a raffle draw which saw subscribers winning attractive prizes from Zain.
