Late Michael Jackson’s initiative supported in Sierra Leone

The Executive Coordinator of the Sfano Musical Production and Entertainment Association, Mr. Sfano Njawa Sesay last Friday on the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Cooperation television on the Good Morning progamme disclosed to the pubic his association’s decision to further support the “HEAL THE WORLD” initiative by late Michael Jackson.

The “Heal the World” initiative was designed to support youths and children around the world,” says Sfano.

Mr. Njawa Sesay said he was inspired by the late King of Pop not only for his unique musical talent which won him many fans the world over, but for also seeking the interest and welfare of vulnerable youths and children.

General Sfano said that the “Heal the World” initiative was introduced in Sierra Leone by the veteran journalist and youth activist Oswald Hanciles in 2002 and that late Michael Jackson should have been in Sierra Leone in a $2 million project to help the children of the country.

General Sfano further said that he had trained children to welcome late Michael Jackson and several plans were in place but that certain Sierra Leoneans rushed to California to recommend themselves for the programme and that the programme was damned for lack of coordination among Sierra Leoneans when Late Michael Jackson had already learnt of Oswald Hanciles and Sfano in the programme.

General Sfano Says that such humanitarian interest of the late King of Pop Michael Jackson should not have died as he had the interest to take the initiative to a new dimension, the MICHAEL JACKSON/SFANO CHILDREN’S DEVELOPMENT FUND PROGRAMME.

The executive management and members of his association agreed to further the children’s care initiative in consultation with the family members of the late King of Pop, Michael Joseph Jackson, Sfano disclosed.

The king of Afro-Pop music in Sierra Leone further disclosed that a musical tour tagged MICHAEL JACKSON/SFANO CHILDREN’S DEVELOPMENT FUND MUSICAL TOUR which his association intends to take global to countries that have been affected by either natural or man-made disaster that severely affected the peaceful co-existence of the people especially women and the children started on 18th December 2009 at the Orthodox Christian Junior Secondary School.

He added that the tour has been successfully implemented in Albert Academy Secondary School, Excel International Secondary School, Methodist Girls High School and most recently Great Vision International Private School in Freetown.

General Sfano revealed that the sole aim of the programme is to promote the rights of vulnerable school going children, encouraging the staff welfare association of these schools and also raising awareness on health prevention and care regarding HIV/AIDS among students.

Many other organizations have been following up the activities of the SFANO MUSICAL PRODUCTION AND ENTERTAINMENT ASSOCIATION among which are the Women and Children’s Right Advocacy Programme (WCRAP), APEM, NCDHR, NAS and Global Fund secretariat.

Miss Kadie Sandy, Executive Director WCRAP said that her organization is pleased with the activities of the association especially that regarding child care and awareness on HIV/AIDS among young people in the country. Miss Sandy further said that young people should follow examples by helping the Government of Sierra Leone win the dream of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma in his attitudinal change campaign by developing to re-brand the country.

Mr. John Simbo, also a youth activist and investor in the country, said at the SLBC canteen he had no doubt that General Sfano would take up such brilliant initiative.

Mr. Sinmbo advised the students and youth in the programme to cooperate with General Sfano in the child health care awareness undertaken by the SFANO MUSICAL PRODUCTION AND ENTERTAINMENT ASSOCIATION, adding that he was willing to give all necessary support to the SMPEA in all its ventures.

Mr. Njawa Sesay pleaded with personalities both home and abroad to come to the aid of the SFANO MUSICAL PRODUCTION AND ENTERTAINMENT ASSOCIATION in developing the MICHAEL JACKSON/SFANO CHILDREN’S DEVELOPMENT FUND initiative for the love of the children and the needy.
