NRA shuts down Shandon and Access Bank

NRA shuts down Shandon and Access Bank

The Corporate Affairs Manager of the National Revenue Authority (NRA), Mr. Mohamed Bangura, has confirmed to this medium that for failing to paying their taxes, they have shut down the offices and operations of the Shandon Iron Ore Company and the Access Bank.

He made this disclosure at his Wellington Street Office in Freetown on Tuesday, 24th November, 2015.

He said the Commissioner General of the NRA, Madam Haja Kallah Kamara has given instructions for them to clamp down heavily on tax evaders in the country.

He revealed that Shandon owes NRA about one hundred and fifty six billion Leones while Access Bank owes them about seventy two billion Leones.

He noted that they are working within the law to enforce compliance.

He noted that more business houses across the country are going to be shut down as well.

He concluded that all those business houses that are shut down will only be reopened after they have made full payment of their taxes, fines and interests.
