Acha names new CID boss
The Inspector General of Police, Brima Acha Kamara (in photo)Â has last week, unveiled Chief Superintendent (CSP) Suluku Conteh as the new boss of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Until his appointment he was the Director of Intelligence at CID head quarters. CSP Suluku Conteh joined the Sierra Leone Police in 1984 as a recruit and became a cadet sub inspector in 1985; in 1992 he was assistant superintendent of police (ASP), in 2000 he was promoted to superintendent and in 2001 promoted to acting superintendent of police. In 2004 Conteh was confirmed as Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP).
He worked at the intelligence branch when he was sub inspector before he went to Fourah Bay College (FBC) University in 1988 and he graduated in 1992 in Political Science. Conteh served as the Commanding Officer Anti Drugs Syndicate, O/C Crime Intelligence before he was transferred to the Complaint Discipline Internal Investigation Department (CDIID) as deputy director. Due to his expertise he was posted to head the newly formed Operations Policy and Planning at Kingtom were he made an enviable record.
He was recalled and posted as the Local Unit Commander (LUC) at Magburaka. He was then recalled again and posted as LUC Kambia were he made remarkable strides for which members of the Executive Management Board (EMB) of the SLP are very much proud of his success story. Due to the reforms he has been putting in various stations he was again transferred to head LUC ‘C’ Divisional Headquarters Congo Cross where his name is a household name because he was able to reduce the fear of crime, rape, armed robbery and his division was the best in terms of the formation of the local partnership board at the time he was serving as LUC Congo Cross police station. Because of his quest for education he has recently graduated with Masters in Peace and Development Studies at FBC.
He has completed various professional courses including International Commander’s programme at the Police College, Brahshill, England; the Executive Police Development programme at Interpol Head Quarters, France; Strategic Leadership Programme, Botswana Police College. CSP Suluku Conteh disclosed to this press that he has his own vision adding that he intends to have a working team underscoring that his office is open to members of the public. CSP Suluku Conteh is an administrator per excellence, dedicated to duty, firm, focus, disciplined, humble, loyal, and result oriented. He is on record to be the brain behind the success story of the Criminal Investigation Department. CSP Conteh is happily married with children.   Â
