Judge rules against the Defence in Afsatu trial

Justice Samuel Ade Musu has ruled against the Defence team on revoking orders of the high court to protect prosecution witnesses in the ongoing proceedings. According to the motion that was filed by the defense team the prosecution witnesses should testify in an open court and there should not be any protective witness in the trial.

Justice Ade Musu refused the motion of the Defence team and ordering that the proceeding should continue.

The lead Defence team JB Jenkins Johnston asked the court for an adjournment saying that the Defence has to discuss the judge’s ruling.  Prosecution for the ACC Calvin Matsebo objected to the application for an adjournment saying that the Defence has been objected with the same application and they see no reason why the Defence is asking for an adjournment as their witnesses are already waiting. The presiding judge however granted the application for an adjournment and the matter is adjoined to the 27th of May 2010.
