Organized Fraud at Prison Welfare Association Deputy Director Implicated
The Deputy Director, Prison Welfare Association, Sierra Leone Correctional Centre, Joseph Lamboi has been named in an organized fraud that has not only wrecked the organization but also disadvantaged regular members who have contributed immensely to take the union where it is today.
Speaking to Sierra Express Media (SEM) on condition of anonymity, dissatisfied members of the union maintained that the association was formed to assist affiliates affected with either social or health problems adding that each member contributed thirty thousand Leones (Le 30,000) monthly to the organization’s coffer.
According to the helpless members, Le 1M and a bag of rice is disbursed to any member who attains or exceeds retirement age (i.e. 60 years).
“We are not happy with Joseph Lamboi’s administration because we are given less than what we deserved”, they told reporters and spoke vehemently about one of their members who was neglected when he fell ill until he met his untimely death as a result of what they described as maladministration.
Contacting Joseph Lamboi to respond to the damning allegations, he said that he is innocent of the issues and referred investigators to the association’s Public Relations Officer but effort to reach him proved futile.
