Destiny Ladies Engage Adonkia Community

After undertaken series of trainings with the Adonkia Community, an activity funded by the Bread of the World through the Sierra Leone Adult Education Association (SLADEA), were left for a period of time to implement what they have been thinking on Gender Base Violence.

He said studies observed by the Destiny Ladies intervened to robustly reduce such crimes on teenage pregnancy, early marriages, marital/domestic problems and youth violence.

Getting onboard few of the Participants to a close interview came out to say that these crimes that have been persistently committed in their Community have been drastically reduced due to the trainings they got from the Destiny Ladies.

Among them were victims of some of the crimes committed against them and proudly boasted of the support that was given to them by the Destiny Ladies at the Adonkia Community Police Station,

They stated that before this time, they were well aware of  the issues but were not of the know-how to approach and attack them, but with the intervention of the Destiny Ladies in bring them onboard with facilitators that are experts in the field of Gender issues, they now know what to do and in handling issues of such nature.  The training, they furthered has led them to become positive contributors in sensitizing their Community Members to deviate from committing crimes and also on the penalties faced if fall victim.

The Destiny Ladies Organization, even though this September would be the targeted month to end the first phase of the pilot funded project; they promised to continue their monitoring mechanism while looking forward to bigger Organizations that will come to their aid financially and logistically by capacitating them to go even beyond the Adonkia Community to combat crimes relating to Gender Base Violence committed in wider Communities in the Western Area and beyond on a daily basis.
