Remembering the Kamajors

The Kamajors under the Sierra Leone People’s Party turned the concept of democracy head over heels when they went about killing and eating the presume opponents of the SLPP  while giving the impression that they were fighting to bring back democracy.

Although Hinga Norman, the glorified and later controversial Kamajor boss and close ally of Tejan Kabbah died in detention far from his home town of Mongere, it seems his ghost has started haunting some SLPP members. That is why the opposition party members have started making noise over the dead chieftain and are even trying to ensure that the two Kamajor chiefs are jailed in Bonthe.

What some people seem to neglect is that Hinga Norman was betrayed by the SLPP and especially Norman. Every one knows that if  Hinga Norman should be indicted, as he had been, then there is no reason why Tejan-Kabbah should not face the same music, after all he was the one who served as commander in chief of the Armed forces. BUT AS Kabbah had disbanded or had considered his own military as the enemy; he was in reality the commander of the Kamajors.

There is a need for Mr. Kabbah to answer to the Special Court. If Charles Taylor can be accused, why not Kabbah who presided over an ethnic based militia that took part in cannibalism and other macabre rituals.

Kabbah must also be indicted
