CAF Cup: RSLAF ready to face tough adventure in Tunis
The Republic of Sierra Leone Army Forces (RSLAF) will face a new and touch African adventure this weekend in Tunisia against one of Africa’s giant teams Club Africain.
The Tunisian omnisport club, winners of the 27th edition of the CAF Champions League will go toe to toe against RSLAF for the first time ever on Sunday, March 12th, 2017 at the Stade Olympique de Radès in the first leg double header in Tunis and the second leg in Freetown, Sierra Leone the following weekend.
Head Coach, Alimamy Bangura, has said his side will settle with a defensive formation in Tunis playing on the break. No injury headache for coach Bangura, whose team are in high spirits going into Sunday’s cracker despite any financial difficulties.
RSLAF on paper no doubts are the underdogs and many African pundits are sceptical on backing the Sierra Leone team to cause an upset yet again.
RSLAF have nothing to lose they have been impressive following their triumph in Nigeria and many Sierra Leoneans soccer fans believe they can stamp another shocker in this competition if they can pick up a vital away goal in Tunis.
Undoubtedly the Tunisian are embarking on a campaign, under the banner of “rehabilitation of Tunisian football”
However, they will be without January acquisition Zimbabwean striker Matthew Rusike but the technical staff will be able to count on Seifeddin Jaziri and Malian striker Malick Touré.
During the 2016 CAF Champions League, Club Africain was eliminated 2-1 by Algerian top flight side MO Béjaïa despite winning the first leg 1-0 at home.
