The APC politician hailed the Lokos when delivering the keynote address at the Zone III meeting on Saturday 26th March at the Boston Community Centre in Kissy, Freetown, on behalf of the APC National Secretary General, Alhaji Foday Osman Yansaneh, who was on official duty in Khartoum, Sudan.

Alimamy P. Koroma congratulated the Loko Tribal Head in the Western Area, Alhaji Alpha Sahid Sesay for his display of exemplary leadership by settling long-standing disputes amongst his kindred within the short time of his appointment by His Excellency President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma.

He noted that though other ethnic groups in the Western Area have not been able to resolve their long-standing disputes, the visionary leadership of the National Landogor Union is far ahead of settling their disputes.

Alimamy P. Koroma assured the leadership of the union of the support of Government and the ruling APC, adding that the Loko ethnic group is known for being humble, law-abiding, peaceful and hard-working.

He said the Lokos always avoid the Cotton Tree in Central Freetown to choose settlements in the hills, quarries or gardens and wake up with the right manners instead of begging.

The Ambassador designate assured that the APC Government is very much appreciative of their efforts during the 2007 and 2012 presidential and parliamentary elections.

He however made it known that President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma was never pleased with some ethnic group members that were offered key positions in Government but had to turn their backs against their people they were supposed to help.

In his statement, Sheik Tamu Sesay of the Loko Central Mosque in Kissy said the need for tribal consciousness cannot be overemphasized, noting that Allah created many tribes so that they can recognize each other.

The religious leader described the appointment of the Loko Tribal Head Alhaji Alpha S. Sesay as a divine appointment and called on tribesmen and women for total cooperation in order to move the Loko issues forward as nobody can do it except themselves.

Sheik Tamu Sesay queried that if they have been promoting other people’s causes, why they should not promote their own cause.

In his statement, the Director of Criminal Investigations Department (CID), CSP Mohamed Kamara, who was Legal One in the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), said it is God’s appointed time for them to associate with the Loko ethnic group, noting that terrorism will never get a grip on our because of our degree of religious and tribal tolerance.

The former Minister of Sports, Paul Mohamed Kamara, described the Lokos as proud people with good behaviours, clean hearts and always yearning for development.

He asserted that the late warrior Bai Bureh was the first nationalist in Sierra Leone who stood for the rights of his people.

Paul Kamara described President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma as the second Bai Bureh and prayed that God would send a third Bai Bureh to build upon the foundation already laid by the second Bai Bureh.

When he engaged the podium, the selfless Loko Tribal Head in the Western Area, Chief Alhaji Alpha S. Sesay, said the Lokos are the origin of Sierra Leone, noting that many of the house servants in Freetown were the Lokos and Limbas.

He pointed out that their ancestor and great warrior Bai Bureh had laboured for them long before now and that now is the time for his great-grandsons and great-granddaughters to eat the fruit of their ancestor’s labour.

Chief Alhaji Alpha Sesay insisted that any members of the Loko ethnic group that fail to identify themselves with the National Landogor Union would not eat the benefit of their ancestor.

He expressed his disappointment that that some people in public positions of trust are shying away from their tribe of origin but however prayed that the spirit of Bai Bureh would help them become conscious of their true origin.

The former Chief of Staff at State House, Dr. William Conteh, called on members of the Loko ethnic group to remain united as unity has been cemented under the indefatigable leadership of Chief Alhaji Alpha Sesay.

He admonished that if they refused to forgive one another, they would not achieve unity in its entirety especially when the tribe is gradually coming to limelight.

Meanwhile, the Loko Tribal Head in the Western Area will on Saturday 2nd April crown 48 chiefs at the Brima Attouga Mini Stadium at the Old Railway Compound, Cline Town, Freetown.
