Bollore Group donates 400 bags cement
Officials of Bollore Group on Friday 11th December 2015 officially handed over building materials to the Friends of Education Sierra Leone (FoESL), for the construction of a four classroom building at the Cardiff Community Primary School, Hill Station in Freetown. The Le25million worth building materials include: 400 bags of cement, 12 bundles of 8ft zinc and a roll of roofing felt.
Handing over the items, Bollore Africa Logistics’ General Secretary said they are happy to partner with Friends of Education to construct a school building that will go a long way in serving the future generation. Joseph Lambert pointed out that the donation is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility in the education sector. He admonished other organizations and individuals to support FoESL, which has demonstrated its commitment to transform the country’s education sector.
Founder of FoESL, Randa Swaid said the building materials will help them to complete the second phase of the school project. “We are looking forward for a stronger partnership with Bollore to improve the education sector,” she said, and added that they are more than willing to construct more schools in the country in order to give children the opportunity to prepare themselves for the future.
The Cardiff Community Primary School which was having a zinc structure can now boast of a standard three classroom building that is well furnished. Construction work on the four classroom building is expected to be completed in March next years. This is the biggest school project undertaken by Friends of Education. The school current have an enrolment of 700 children, and the completion of the four classrooms will accommodate more pupils in the near future.
The Head Mistress of the School, Madam Mariam I. Sheriff commended FoESL for its effort in taking the school from grass to a standard level. “Our children are now learning in a comfortable environment,” she said, and further notes that the partnership between Bollore and FoESL will enhance a greater enrolment and conducive learning environment for children. She promised that the building materials will be utilized for their intended purpose.
