Kroo Bay youths want ACC probe
Youths of Kroo Bay and part of Kingtom under the jurisdiction of Councilor Maxwell Lebbie, have called on the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) to investigate Councilors and officials in the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) in the Western Area.
According to the aggrieved youths, they alleged that for the past three months, Councilor Maxwell Lebbie has been using them to work while he has not been adequately compensation them.
They further alleged that they have been serving as Contact Tracers in their various communities but at present they are under serious pressure by Councilor Maxwell Lebbie to present themselves as Ebola survivors.
They explained that Councilor Maxwell Lebbie is using the backing of some senior personnel at the CDC who have assured him that they syndicate will work and benefit all of them.
The youths further explained that posing as Ebola Survivors has not gone down well with the genuine Ebola survivors who see them as depriving them of the facilities that are meant for them.
They also alleged that Maxwell Lebbie has two different groups, the Contact Tracers group controlled by his daughter and the converted Contact Tracers to Ebola survivors group.
They also alleged that only those in his daughter’s group are receiving salaries while those in the other group continue to go without payment.
When contacted, Councilor Maxwell Lebbie, stated that he is not the only Councilor involved in the syndicate but that several other Councilors in the Western are also part of the deal.
He explained that he did this in order to create some job opportunities for the youths but that his detractors are trying to sabotage his efforts.
He blamed the delay in payment of salaries on the CDC.
