Gangsters make life hell in Kissy
Reports reaching Sierra Express Media reveal that the crime rate has been on the increase for the past two to three months at the Kissy D Division in the east of Freetown.
This revelation was made by the Local Unit Commander, Superintendent J. Momoh Ngavao on Monday this week while addressing community stakeholders, the Police Partnership Board members and members of the media.
L U C Ngevao stated that the issue of crime is now taking different dimensions especially with the influx of cliques and rivalry of gangster groups especially during social events.
He disclosed that cult initiations among pupils and students in secondary schools and tertiary institutions are now on the rise.
LUC Ngevao however noted that with support from his personnel and the Sierra Leone Police Headquarters together with his Police Partnership Board Committee they have been able to put the crime situation under control.
He called on heads of schools and learning institutions to be monitoring the activities of their pupils and students.
He revealed that they have charged to court a lot of clique and gangster members who have been caught committing acts of violence, theft and destruction to property.
In his remarks, the chairman of the Kissy Police Partnership Board, Mr. Algassimu Sesay, revealed that they have developed strategies on how to clamp down on criminals, clique and gangster groups who are bent on making life uncomfortable for peaceful citizens.
