The Living Faith Church Worldwide a.k.a Winners Chapel International, Freetown, will be hosting a three day National Empowerment Summit at the National Stadium main bowl and its Freetown headquarter’s Auditorium situated at the back of Pademba Road P.W.D quarters. The summit will commence from the 8th to the 10th of October 2009. This summit will be the first of it kind to be organized by the Winners Chapel Commission in Freetown. Giving a background to the summit, the senior pastor and regional overseer of the west region of Winners Chapel, Sierra Leonean born Pastor Sam Johns stated that the empowerment summit is a response to a specific mandate given to God’s servant Bishop David Oyedepo to the African continent. This mandate he said, is to bring light to what had hitherto been referred to as a dark continent, by providing the adequate and relevant information that will put Africa in it right position in history.
Bishop David Oyedepo he said , is currently on a mission of visiting all the countries where his mission has a presence and Sierra Leone being one of such countries is will be hosting him on the above mentioned date. The programme is dubbed as “empowerment Summit” because it will be an avenue to enlighten and expose the people of Sierra Leone to insights that will enable them take their place in Christ. The impact of this summit to the people of Sierra Leone is going to be massive because the enlightenment that the people will receive will make them unstoppable for all round exploits. According to Pastor Sam Johns, “An ignorant man is stagnated, incapacitated and limited, but when the same becomes knowledgeable, he becomes unstoppable”. Pastor Sam Johns stated that he believes that through this summit, knowledge and insights will be passed on to God’s people and will have a positive impact on every strata of the Sierra Leonean society. He said he is encouraging all attending the summit to be loaded with expectations. He went on to say that to attend the programme is one thing but to be benefited by the meeting is another thing. ‘People will only be benefited by the meeting when they come with the right perspective and the right perspective is to fully loaded with expectations. He stressed that the meeting is not going to be an ordinary meeting but one that is designed to bring transformation. Therefore people should not go to the meeting as if they are going to meet the man of God but as though they are going to have an encounter with God.
He reiterated that as a servant of God, Sierra Leone as a nation can learn from the life and Ministry of Bishop David Oyedepo as he has become a force to reckon with through living what he preaches. He noted that through his Ministry, thousands of lives have been transformed and his life changing teachings and principle can benefit Sierra Leone if such are practiced. He said Bishop Oyedepo’s Secret is his heart and has proven himself to be an effective leader over the Living Faith Mission Commission throughout these years. On the effect of the summit on the body of Christ in Sierra Leone, Pastor Sam Johns remarked that it is going to be in two phase. The leadership seminar at the church edifice during the morning hours, and the evening sessions at the National Stadium main bowl and these sessions will help raise leaders in the homes, offices, church and the Nation as a whole. The summit is geared towards uniting the body of Christ in Sierra Leone to have one voice in emancipating Sierra Leone from the grips of Satan. He is coming to give a new orientation and perspectives to the leaders of our Nation especially the body of Christ. He is going to spark up a new zeal and greater commitment in church leaders in uniting the body of Christ in Sierra Leone more than ever before. “When the body of Christ is united as a force, there is no force of hell that can stop us as a church and when that is accomplished, the church will be able to play it role in the Nation building process” he said. Â
