Polish Government fancy bi-lateral ties with Sierra Leone

The Polish Ambassador accredited to the Federal Republic of Nigeria H.E. Przemyslaw Niesiolowski has today Thursday April 8th informed Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria H.E. Henry O. Macauley, that, the Polish Government is interested in establishing a bi – lateral relationship with the President Ernest Bai Koroma led Government of Sierra Leone. In as much as Sierra Leone is among the first one hundred countries to sign the WARSAW treaty ten years ago in Poland, H.E. Przemyslaw Niesiolowski said the interest of the Polish Government in Sierra Leone is based on the fact that Sierra Leone is recognized as one of the growing democracies in the globe.

The Polish envoy said he decided to contact the High Commission in Nigeria because he (H.E. Przemyslaw Niesiolowski) is accredited to the Federal Republic of Nigeria “where your chancery is located and also based on your visible level of participation at regional, bilateral and multilateral levels”.

Also, the Polish Ambassador use the opportunity to extend on behalf of his Government an invitation to Sierra Leone’s Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Madam Zainab Hawa Bangura to attend a high level Ministerial meeting on “Global Democracy Agenda” which is scheduled for Krakow on 2nd – 4th July 2010.

According to the Polish envoy, the meeting which is expected to see Activists and leaders for Democracy and human Rights from all over the World is scheduled to take place at a time when autocracy is again on the march.

“We will reaffirm our commitments to democratic values, and to the role of the community of Democracies in supporting democratic processes all over the world.

The meeting is also expected to see the signing of an act of recommitment to the warsaw Declaration and make joint announcement of the Global Democracy Work Plan”.

According to the Polish envoy, “My Foreign Minister will use the occasion to introduce the bilateral talks to your Foreign Minister”, said H.E. Przemyslaw Niesiolowski.
