Wednesday First October 2014 is a special visit and presentation ceremony to H.E Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone
Permit me H.E to first of all present to your H.E these illustrious and luminous sons and daughters of this good soil. A delegation after series of deliberations during which everybody wishing just to come and identify themselves with you Sir, especially during these days of national predicaments

Your Excellency Ebola is indeed real and not only deadly but disastrous. The international community describes it in many ways: “Global Security Threat”, “Social Tragedy” etc. And for us is a National Crisis and our collective concern and common sense is needed to resist the epidemic dispassionately
It is actually severely painful for any responsible Government to see his dear ones been killed by such an invisible brutal force; this sound enormously stressful.
Muslim Missionaries Union Donates 550 Bags of Rice
Your Excellency you have indeed sacrificed a lot for this nation and especially for the Muslim Community. We are aware and need not to be told of the degree of love your esteemed stewardship has shown to our community we want to assure you sir you will be paid back in good return. Our history, Children, and children’s Children will remember this worthy man you prove to be.
H.E. Sir, on Sunday the August 17th 2014 at 3:00am our Radio Station the Voice of Islam for the first time got it bitter experience a Fire Disaster burnt down the entire Floor and no equipments was save worth of (Le 200M) Two Hundred Million Leones including Dr. Bilal Philip’s Equipments just arrived from the UK which symbolic presentation was made to you few months ago a sum of US$50,000 . To our greatest surprise the first Government official that ably represented Your Excellency and sympathized with the Muslim community was Hon. Minister of Social Welfare Alhaji Moijui Kaikai.
H.E. Sir, You never made any mistake to draw this genuine and generous servant by your side to lead the Ministry of SWGCA for two conspicuous justifications: The orderly manner he arranged and delete Ministerial portfolio to an ordinary man just to satisfy the pilgrim during Hajj last year. And the timely and heroic pronouncement made by the Hon. Minister Moijui Kaikai on Wednesday 6th July 2014 this year that no Hajj visa for Sierra Leone having spent a lot for the preparatory and coordinating moves involving huge amount of money was good. This help to psychologically prepare the intending pilgrims before they lost their mind or lost confidence in Government, though it was a bitter spit for both the government and the people but had a positive desired effects and no one was misled.
Our visit today is a mile stone strategy to help flush this deadly scourge after series of strategic plans designed by the Executive Committee of the Sierra Leone Muslim Missionaries Union to complement the steady effort of H.E the President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma and the Ministry of Health and Sanitation for the National fight.
The SLMMU wasted no time since the outbreak 26th May 2014 and especially after the announcement of State of Public Health Emergency by H.E the President on the 30th of July to join Government in the area of personnel and institutional support regarding the seriousness this disastrous and deadly disease has caused the nation. Since then the SLMMU has designed and undertaken the following:
- Five (5) of the Union’s Radio Reporters attended a training of trainers on the prevention and control of the Ebola Epidemic with UNICEF.
- Organized an adult training and sensitization seminar for 100 Imams and Arabic Teachers at the VOI building 5th floor Islamic Center 84 Circular Road.
- Collaborate with the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists to provide correct and first hand information to the citizens and populations of this nation.
- Secured four (4) passes at EOC’s office for the Voice of Islam Personnel to join the three-day lockdown house to house dissemination of correct information to reach 1.5 million households across Sierra Leone.
- Hosting of frontline officials directly involved in the fight as guests for radio sensitization like Hon. Minister of Information Alhaji Alpha Khan and others.
- Attending the daily Government Press Conferences at the SLAJ Headquarters for facts and figures to feed our VOI listeners.
In addition to these awareness raising measures, the Union has gone a special way to give a humble donation owing to the view that nobody can do everything but a bit to complement each other’s efforts. The Union therefore wish to declare a total of 550 of 25kg bags of rice for the following targeted areas which are predominantly Muslim Communities: Makeni, Lunsar and Port Loko 200 bags for the North. Moyamba Junction 50 bags for the South, Sheigbewma, Daru and Kenema Towns, 200 bags for the East and the Western Area 100 bags. Our local donor in his own way added 50 bags to the 500 bags provide by the Union making the sum total 550 bags. What a genuine generosity. Sir please convey the Union’s felicitation to Alhaji Foday Turay for this good gesture.
The provision of food to Ebola Victims and people in quarantined homes or communities to ensure that every home celebrates joyously this upcoming Big Festival of the Islamic Calendar Eidul Adha is not only timely but hope and confidence building for our people. We will at the same time provide psycho-social counseling for our people.
We want to reassure Your Excellency that the fight to win this battle is a must and soon sons and daughters of this great nation will be labeled VICTORS and VICTORIALS. We will go an extra mile today in consonance with our Islamic religious doctrine to declare nationwide Fasting of Arafah Day dedicated to down the Ebola Virus by all Muslims.
It is on this note sir, we wish to finally assure your Excellency that This day symbolic presentation will give birth to triplet donations in the soonest time possible. Therefore if you hear a door nocks just after our departure that could be no other delegation but We the same! This is because we have mobilized support from our international partners to queue behind you for this toughest fight “The Government greatest distraction ever” We are ready for the fight!!!
In order to realize this dream, the Union is requesting the Ministry to as a body directly dealing with religious affairs in the country to facilitate the timely distribution to the given destinations in the itinerary:
